Fantasy NFL Week 5
October 2nd 2008 19:11
Fantasy sports posts will come every Thursday on allknowinggeek.com and most likely focus on the NFL for the next couple.
Now for Week 5.
Buffalo/Arizona is up in the air due to injury and of course ditto to Green Bay/Atlanta due to Aaron Rodgers' status. Only real advice would be on GB, Grant is a must start with the Atlanta run D and avoid a Rodgers gamble and stream someone.
Formats obviously have an impact on your roster decisions, but I'll give a thought here and there in case you need to stream or for leagues like CDM/Fanball and week to week rosters.
QB
Romo and Payton look like the class of the week at QB matchup wise. Looking for at least 2-3 TDs from Payton and Dallas' offense to move for 5 TDs against Cincy.
Delhomme against KC's rookies should equal pts as well.
On the streaming front, Matt Cassel is available in some formats and smaller leagues and looks like a favorable start against SF. Gus Frerotte looks even better to me against a NO pass D that was 30th in the league last year and should be focused on AP. Stream if possible/needed.
HB
Not much you shouldn't already know here. I'll just call for Tomlinson to have a big week against Miami. LT looked solid but with a lower avg than you would like, but I think this is the week he can break out.
WR
I'd say the wides that correspond with Payton, Romo and Delhomme are the plays for the week. Reggie Brown snapping out of the funk might open up DeSean Jackson, Berrian seems like a pickup if some frustrated owner dropped him one of the first 3 weeks.
TE
Dallas Clark looks very good among the elites this week. I'll also expect a big surge from 2 monday night catches out of Heath Miller. Streaming wise, I'd pull the trigger on Alex Smith in Tampa Bay. Denver hasn't seemed to pay attention to the TE the last 2 years or so. Deeper the list I might give Jeff King a try this week as a valid Carolina red zone option if the run stalls again.
K
Gould and Kasay look solid to me if you're not on a Folk type of elite.
Just my thoughts though. Good luck on your teams and hope I was helpful.
