Fantasy Postmortem (NFL Week 7)
October 20th 2008 04:37
I had so much trouble with this week that I noted it would be a weird week and was it ever. Some things were common sense, but most of the happenings were from out of the blue. The top QBs didn't come from the top tier, ditto the halfbacks.
QB
The top QBs in my mind were Orton and Schaub. Schaub I saw ahead of time, but I still have a hard time thinking of Orton as a viable fantasy option. Anyone that tells me they thought he would be more steady at QB than Payton can sell that line to Kidco. Russell had OK final numbers, but if I had him it would have felt like an oops single trying to pull back a bunt.
HB
I thought Portis would have a big day and he did, but the best backfield came from Tennessee. I could picture one guy doing well, but both White and Johnson in the same week having 150 yds was just out of the blue. Mewelde Moore was gettable if you were following the injury report from Steeltown, but did anyone see 100 w/2 scores?
WR/TE
The standard plays were the standard plays. Only places where surprises didn't happen this week.
K
Chicago and Minnesota provided the scoring this week and they were plays...another who'd have thunk. At least Reed was in the top 5 of kickers.
